Fort A.P. Hill employee recognized as Installation Management Command Hero of the Day

The Installation Management Command Hero of the Day is Rose Brown, a recreation assistant at Fort A.P. Hill Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate.

Brown received a call from a staff sergeant indicating a group of Soldiers were stranded in the field for more than eight hours without water or other beverages. Brown asked where the unit was located but they were unable to tell her. She continued to ask questions until she figured out where they were.

Brown filled coolers with ice and water, picked up coffee from the snack bar and drove toward the unit’s location. The unit staff sergeant asked that Brown be recognized for her efforts, saying, “She should be the standard for government employees.”

This is just one example of how Brown goes above and beyond normal expectations to provide exceptional support to Soldiers. She receives frequent kudos each year from units and individuals to whom DFMWR provides catered services and events.

Brown was recognized Wednesday morning during the Installation Management Command Commander’s Update Brief via a video teleconference with IMCOM Headquarters in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

During the VTC, Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, IMCOM Commander and Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management, applauded Brown’s accomplishments.

“That speaks highly for their trust and confidence in you,” he said of the Soldiers who turned to Brown for assistance. “You went above and beyond.”
