Navy Birthday Message

In keeping with the finest traditions of Fort AP Hill’s mission to support and train the Joint Force, I would like to extend my birthday wishes to the United States Navy – A Global Force for Good – on the occasion of their 237th Birthday!!!

The United States Navy traces its origins to the Continental Navy, which the Continental Congress established on 13 October 1775, by authorizing the procurement, fitting out, manning, and dispatch of two armed vessels to cruise in search of munitions ships supplying the British Army in America. The legislation also established a Naval Committee to supervise the work. All together, the Continental Navy numbered some fifty ships over the course of the war, with approximately twenty warships active at its maximum strength.

Best wishes to our esteemed partners of Naval Special Warfare Group -2, at Camp Connors.  Your professionalism and dedicated service to the Nation and our Warriors is in keeping with the finest traditions of the Department of Defense, the Department of the Navy, and Fort AP Hill.

Happy Birthday!!!
